USDT on many networks: sending beyond Liquid with AQUA

1 min read

One thing that surprises crypto newcomers: "USDT" isn't a single thing on a single blockchain. The same token exists on several independent networks, and moving between them works differently than a normal transfer. Understanding this makes your DePix far more flexible than it looks at first.

One token, many rails

USDT is issued on multiple networks β€” Liquid, Ethereum, Polygon, Tron, Solana, and BNB Smart Chain among them. Each network is a separate rail with its own confirmation times and transfer fees. A USDT address on Ethereum is not interchangeable with one on Tron; sending to the wrong network is how coins get lost.

DePix stays on Liquid

DePix itself is issued only on the Liquid Network, so there's no "network choice" for the DePix you receive β€” that's by design. The flexibility starts one step later: once you convert DePix into USDT inside your own wallet, you can take that value onto other networks.

How AQUA bridges the networks

If you use AQUA, network bridging is built in. When you generate a USDT receive or send address, AQUA lets you pick the network β€” Liquid itself, or Ethereum, Polygon, Tron, Solana, and BNB Smart Chain β€” and integrated swap providers take care of the conversion. Your balance remains in your self-custodied Liquid wallet throughout; the provider simply converts on the way in or out.

Two habits matter here: addresses on the non-Liquid networks are single-use and expire, so always generate a fresh one for each transfer, and check the minimum and maximum amounts shown before sending.

Not there yet? First see how the DePix-to-USDT swap works, and if you're still picking a wallet, start with choosing your first self-custody wallet.
